A representative of the British Science Festival is coming to The Art Place on Friday 16th April @ 4pm as the lights are turned on for Writtle Junior School's year 5 pupils to 'experience' the installation they have made during Lockdown.
The pupils, 9 and 10 years old, were given the theme of "Lockdown Loss and Future Hope" which inspired them to create, design and code a Cloud Tunnel made of menacing dark clouds with rain and storm pouring out (Lockdown Loss), plus an illuminated sun shining on the other side (Future Hope).
The effects were created with neopixels operated by coded microbits . The codes have been written by the pupils themselves after receiving training from the Ideas Hub Educational team.
The Art Place, situated in The Meadows Shopping Centre, is an Ideas Hub, Chelmsford project, a charity which also delivers Arts and tech problem solving projects in schools with the support of grants. This project was supported by grants from The Ragdoll Foundation, Essex 2020 and Essex County Council.
The British Science Festival- 2 weeks of science events aimed at students aged 18 + - will be in Chelmsford for the first time between 7th and 11th September 2021.
